Activewear – Fashionable AND Warm!

Let me start this blog off by saying this:  I love being active when I’m not at work, checking out the latest shoe trends.  I love running, hiking, camping, biking, outdoor yoga, and just plain sitting on a patio somewhere in Dallas!  But this past summer in Dallas was SO brutally hot that it was hard to enjoy any of that.  So needless to say, I’m jumping for joy now that November has arrived, along with perfect weather!

Now that it’s cooling down, it’s time for a change in your workout wardrobe.  Yes, it is possible to look cute while exercising outside and stay warm at the same time!  I am absolutely loving all of the brightcolors on the runway for this fall, and these colors have also translated over into athletic gear.  Building a wardrobe for cold-weather workouts can get expensive but luckily I found some really cute items below at a decent price!

First, the key to staying warm while running or exercising outside is layering.  I start off with a basic long-sleeve shirt that wicks away moisture – Nike has a wonderful shirt that is lightweight and keeps you dry for only $40!  I also pair this with a pair of running leggings – I found a great pair at Target.com for only $21.99 but really, every brand offers a pair of similar leggings so you can find these anywhere.

Fall 2011 Style Watch: Graphic Prints

Want another way to make yourself stand out this Fall?  Snag some pieces with bold graphic prints.

According to wardrobe consultant Delisa, graphic prints are a big hit this season.  Many of the biggest names in fashion rocked the runways in graphic prints, including color blocking, black and white, and Stella McCartney’s magnificent polka dots.

The standout patterns of graphic prints can be found on dresses, skirts, pants, or outerwear.  With wild lines, designs, and shapes, they can give your wardrobe unique flair that will set you apart from the rest of the pack.

Graphic prints are nothing to shy away from: the best way to wear them is unapologetically, of course.  But if you want to tone them down a bit, pair a graphic print piece with a solid color, a classic bag and fantastic shoes, and you’re good to go!

Fall 2011 Trend – Color Blocking

For those of you who feel bummed about the lack of color in your wardrobe once fall rolls around, I have good news – color is here to stay!   From shoes to bright colored dresses to colored denim, color has continued to heat up the fall runways.

“Color blocking” is the term when several bold colors are paired up together in an outfit.  This trend was first introduced in the spring, and luckily continues through the fall.  See below for examples of color blocking from fall’s runways:

Fall fashion is gearing up and I, for one, am very excited about it.  See, down here in Texas, we are STILL having a heat wave!  I’m ready to say, “Bye bye, Tanks, Tees, and Flip Flops!  Hello, Sweaters, Scarves, and Boots!”  I saw this picture of Lauren Conrad this week and took some inspiration from her look to create my own fall transition wardrobe.

Although it hasn’t cooled off much for us in Texas, I know it has for some of you.  Sometimes that transition phase can be a little tricky.  What do you wear when it’s chilly in the morning and warm in the afternoon??  Taking inspiration from Lauren Conrad, here are some of my favorite fall transition pieces:
