Top Shoe Trends for Fall: Ankle Booties
Erin here, with the 4th installment of your Fall 2011 Shoe Trends! Up next on the list are ankle booties. These little cuties have a bunch of varieties from high-heels to wedges and are a must-have trend for your closet.
Here are some of my fave celeb styles that range from sexy to casual:
Actress Rachel Bilson was spotted at LAX wearing a pair of slip on ankle booties with her leggings and sweatshirt.
Holiday Wear – Glitter, Sequins, and Lace, Oh My!
Holiday season is upon us…which means it’s time to stock up on glam party-wear! From office holiday parties to New Year’s Eve and everything in between, make sure you stand out with some of the fun textures that are associated with the holidays – glitter, sequins, and lace.
Now, for me, I don’t like spending a whole lot of money on items that I will only wear on occasion. I scoured the internet for affordable items that would be great additions to your holiday closet, and I found some great options. I also just want to note – go easy on the glitter and sequins. Stick to one piece, whether it be a dress, a top, or a pair of shoes. Too much can be distracting and hard to pull off…well, unless you’re Lady Gaga!
Dresses
Dresses are must-haves for the holiday season. In addition to the staple “little black dress,” I found some really fun dresses – and believe it or not, all of the dresses are under $70! Key trend highlights include bright jewel tones (think reds, blues, and purples), sequins, and lace details.

Clockwise from top left: Double Fabric Dress from Zara, $59.90; American Living Sheath Dress from JCPenney.com, $54.99; H&M Sequin Dress from HM.com, $49.95; Sequin Dress from Forever21.com, $37.80; En Crème Lace Illusion Dress from Nordstrom.com, $68; Hailey Logan Taffeta Dress from JCPenney.com, $59.99
Wedge Boots!
OK, wedge shoes of all varieties – I give up. I give in to your awesomeness, and I am finally ready to submit to your authority. You win!
I don’t know why, but for some reason I’ve always been resistant to wedges. (Maybe first of all it’s because I’m not very fashionable. Anyone with a pair of eyeballs can see that, so I might as well not try denying it!)
I first remember seeing wedge sandals in the summer a year or two ago. I initially hated the way they looked and thought I would never wear them. But as I’ve seen them more and more recently, I’ve realized that they’re here to stay, and hey – I kind of like them!
Another eye-opener for me was when my daughter got a new Barbie for her birthday…and guess what was on her feet? A sky-high pair of fabulous white wedge sandals. I figured if even a doll can keep up with current fashion trends, then maybe it was time for me to get on the ball!
Of course, it’s not exactly sandal season right now, so I think I’ll start on my wedge journey during this cooler weather, with a new pair of boots…
Top Shoe Trends for Fall: Motorcycle Boots
Hey Y’all! I’m back this week with another shoe trend for fall: motorcycle boots! I’ve been seeing celebrities wear these for a few seasons now but they are back in a big way this fall. Here’s how celebs have been styling their boots:
Blake Lively walks the streets of NYC in her boots and completes the looks with a motorcycle jacket.
Gwen Stefani left her home in London in her boots.
